Design Museum: The Future Is Here

On the Saturday 31st August I visited the Design Museum to see The Future Is Here exhibition. The exhibition explored how the boundaries between manufactures and consumer are becoming increasingly blurred.

I've never visited the Design Museum before and thought it was in a nice secluded location. In the exhibition I found the Ikea hacker interesting it was about artists buying the most cheap and simple design from Ikea which happened to be a stool and seeing what they could transform the stool into. There was a whole website filled with people's new design. There was also two design on display one being a hat stand with a small surface/table made from the seat of the stool. I quickly sketched it down in my sketchbook:

On the walls of the exhibition there were large photographs of shop and house interiors with captions stating facts and predictions of the future. For example there was one explaining the fact that shops may not be needed in the future due to people ordering things online and not needing things to be mass produced as technology will allow us to custimise anything.
