Day 10: Fashion & Textiles - Paper Manipulation

Today for our first lesson in fashion & textiles we had to make pattern samples out of paper. Paper is good to use for garments because it is cheap, easy to manipulate and is recyclable. In the beginning of the class we had to make 5 sample of samples. These are my 5 sample outcomes:

I liked this sample, I was aiming to cover the whole brown paper in those tassels but ran out of time unfortunately.

This sample reminded me of a rose, it come apart in three layers as I didn't have any suitable material to attach them.

This sample was just spontaneous sample but I do like the result.

I don't really like this sample weave, it's a bit boring. I guess I could of added brighter colours and adjusted the widths of the strips if I was going to develop it.

I liked the rough surface of this sample and how it bring out the colours from the newspaper layers from underneath it.

After making 5 samples we had to choose one of our sample and make 20 copies of it in a variety of sizes. I chose my last sample as it's was quick and easy to do in a short amount of time.

My next blog post will show what we had to do with out 20 garments...
